Yin Yoga
begin with an ocean breath. Take time to breathe. Settle in for one hour of acceptance and surrender. The essence of yin is yielding. Yin yoga targets your deep connective tissues, fascia, ligaments, joints and bones.
Yin yoga holds poses for a longer period of time, being much slower and meditative, teaching you how to breathe through discomfort and sit with your thoughts. Yin yoga is not restorative yoga but does include restorative poses.
Benefits include lengthening the connective tissue, increasing flexibility, boosting circulation while encouraging cellular healing and hydration and reducing stress.
Instead of using our body to get into the asana, we use the asana to get into our body.

mat pilates
Pilates is a mind-body discipline developed by German born trainer Joseph Pilates in the 1920's. Mat Pilates is a low-impact unique set of exercises done on the mat based on six principles: concentration, control, centering, flow, precision and breathing. It focuses on the core muscles of the body and helps to lengthen and strengthen all of your muscles.
Mat Pilates is the forerunner to the Reformer Pilates workout (which is done on a unique "apparatus" developed by Joseph Pilates himself) and requires no equipment. Mat Pilates creates a "thinking body." You will feel longer, stronger and stand taller!
Benefits of Pilates:
- increases core strength
- increases metabolism

Strength training
As we age we experience reduction in muscle mass, strength and function called sarcopenia. These changes begin as early as 30 and continue at a rate of 3% to 5% per decade. The good news is that strength training can help you maintain and rebuild muscle at any age.
We will use a variety of dumbells, kettlebells, resistance bands, bosu trainers, stability balls and more to build muscle and boost our metabolism.

"lauren turned a pregnancy filled with fear into one of calmness and readiness. for a small time each week, i was able to truly relax and embrace being pregnant, find physical relief from my aches and pains, and connect with other moms-to-be. she always made us feel beautiful for what our bodies were going through, not easy when you are 9 months pregnant!"
-tessa p, wallingford, ct
"Lauren's prenatal class was a great mix of stretching to ease the aches and pains, and breathing to connect with my baby. i was already a yoga student when i became pregnant so she helped me gently push myself to make my practice slightly more athletic while still being mindful my limits. i truly believe my labor and delivery was a more pleasant experience because of her class! I will definitely take this class again during my next pregnancy."
